Arcadia Fine Wine

Acquired by current owner Kate Portanova in 2004, the passion that transformed into what is now Arcadia Fine Wine came into being more than a decade ago. Kate’s love for wine began in 1997 while spending a summer in the Dordogne Valley, France, on an archaeological dig. This love for wine quickly peaked in 2003 when she made the decision to quit her desk job, take an educational sabbatical and turn her passion for wine into a self-owned business. Still struggling to discern noble grapes from fruit juice, Kate enrolled in the International Sommelier Guild Level I and II courses and created a business plan, all the while networking with domestic & foreign winemakers, winery/chateau owners, distributors and restaurateurs worldwide. After two fruitless attempts to build a wine bar, she continued her wine education by taking (and passing) the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Advanced course in London. In the fall of 2004, she formed her wine consulting company, The Wine Lady, and by the end of the year, had purchased the Arcadia Fine Wine ship from its prior owner.
